The Hobbit : The Desolation of Smaug (2013)

The Dwarves, Bilbo and Gandalf have successfully escaped the Misty Mountains, and Bilbo has gained the One Ring. They all continue their journey to get their gold back from the Dragon, Smaug.

Fantasy, starring Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Orlando Bloom, Luke Evans, Evangeline Lilly, Aidan Turner, Lee Pace, Sylvester McCoy, Stephen Fry and the voice of Benedict Cumberbatch.

I’ve read Tolkien’s novel after watching the first part of Peter Jackson’s trilogy a year ago. I know Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and him added a lot as they did earlier with the Lord of the Rings. But I don’t care, I love it as it is. There’s action, drama and humour. Benedict Cumberbatch’s Smaug is the star in this second part. It was spectacular and I’m looking forward to watching the conclusion next year. I already know that I will have tears in my eyes as I had in 2003 when I watched The Return Of the King.
