Luther Series 3

Episode 1 : Luther is out to find a twisted fetishist murdering women in a horrific echo of an unsolved case from the 1980s. He is keen that he and his team concentrate all their resources into catching the copycat before he or she strikes again, only for his focus to be divided by a second case involving a malicious internet tormentor found dead in his home. Pulled in every direction, the cop’s patience begins to wear thin, so the last thing he needs is to deal with a road accident – until he sets eyes on one of the women involved. Is he finally on the verge of finding love?

Episode 2 : The promise of romance is put on hold when news of another murder interrupts Luther’s date with Mary. Determined to predict the copycat fetishist’s next move, he throws himself into a pile of cold case files and after his public disagreement with Ripley, he orders the sergeant to investigate the killing of Jared Cass on his own. Meanwhile, a care-home cancer patient receives a chilling gift from a visitor, and three girls look forward to a night in – unaware of the danger lurking in their home.

LUTHER Series 3

Episode 3 : Two hoodies are shot in what appears to be a gangland crime, until a third murder victim gives Luther a vital clue – someone is killing people who have a criminal record. Sure enough the culprit soon posts a film of himself online, calling for changes to the public justice system. The race is on to find the vigilante before he strikes again – but with so many potential victims, that may be easier said than done. As ever, the DCI’s personal life gets in the way of his investigation when a distraught Mary turns up after a visit from Stark and Gray – can he convince her to ever trust him again?

Episode 4 : The detective is a broken man after being accused of crimes he hasn’t committed and is forced to work outside the law in an attempt to catch vigilante killer Marwood, who has made his vendetta personal by targeting Luther and those closest to him. As Stark hurries Mary into hiding for her own protection – hoping to lure the detective into a trap – the man himself continues his private investigation, realising that the killer won’t be satisfied until he has punished the man responsible for his wife’s death – and when he kidnaps an innocent woman, the stage is set for a dramatic showdown in which Luther is forced to make an impossible decision.

Crime thriller, starring Idris Elba, Warren Brown, Sienna Guillory, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Dermot Crowley, Kevin Fuller, Ned Dennehy, Elliot Cowan and Ruth Wilson.

As usual, the crimes are violent – but with this series, rage, sorrow and shock are the new feelings that I got as watching it. Rage for the harassing accusations from Det Supt George Stark and DCI Erin Gray, shock and sorrow for what happens to DS Justin Ripley. All these emotions left me empty – and even if I was glad that Alice was back, the ending didn’t give me the fulfillment that I needed.

Luther Series 2

Episode 1 : A grieving Luther returns to work in the wake of his ex-wife’s murder, and immediately finds himself plunged into a nightmarish case. A killer wearing a Punch mask has started to stalk the streets, and as the body count rises, it becomes clear he is determined to enter folklore. However, the detective’s attentions are divided as he also tries to rescue an old friend’s daughter from the dangerous world of prostitution.

Episode 2 : Jenny’s ruthless boss seeks revenge against Luther, whom she believes has stolen her protegee, and demands compensation. However, the detective has other problems to deal with, namely the rescue of Ripley, who has been abducted by the serial killer in preparation for a final murderous set-piece.

Episode 3 : The detective takes a long-overdue holiday to look after Jenny and help her get back on her feet, only for their domestic plans to be interrupted by Ripley with news of a violent attack at a petrol station. To add to Luther’s problems, Baba’s heavies Frank and Toby continue to make their blackmail demands, which he knows he must follow for Jenny’s sake – until he finds a way to exploit the antagonism between the two men.

Episode 4 : The cop is on a knife-edge as he tries to cover up a death, appease the suspicious Baba and protect Jenny from any further harm. But his problems do not end there – with a killer at large whose actions are ruled by a roll of the dice, he has no way of predicting the next move. Despite a moment of doubt, he puts his plan into action – and is dragged deeper into the criminal world than ever before.

Crime thriller, starring Idris Elba, Ruth Wilson, Dermot Crowley, Warren Brown, Paul McGann, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, David Dawson, Lee Ingleby and Steven Robertson.

The murders are still very violent in this new series and it’s rather difficult for me to watch them, especially when people are killed with a hammer, not saying that I’m used to knives. Idris Elba is always brilliant as Luther and I already miss Alice played by Ruth Wilson. I hope she will be back.

Luther Series 1

Episode 1 Luther returns to work after a traumatic arrest to investigate the murder of a former child genius’s parents, and quickly deduces that their daughter is responsible. However, unable to find evidence to convict, he becomes embroiled in a battle of wits with the suspect – who has set her sights on him and his estranged wife.

Episode 2  A gunman begins murdering uniformed police officers, prompting the detective to taunt the killer on TV in the hope of inspiring him to turn his anger on him and come out into the open. To his horror, Luther also learns that Alice Morgan has been investigating his past – and is threatening to tell Zoe what she has discovered.

Episode 3 The stakes are raised in the search for a woman abducted by a writer of the occult who was suspected of committing a similar crime 10 years previously. Mark is beaten up and, suspecting Luther is responsible, he tries to get him suspended from the police, prompting the DCI to work through the night with Ripley to find evidence not only of the kidnap victim’s whereabouts but of her captor’s guilt.

Episode 4 A spate of murders occurs across London, and Luther suspects they were committed by the same villain. However, hundreds of hours of CCTV footage and a huge pool of witnesses seem to point to the contrary. Meanwhile, Henry Madsen wakes from his coma, giving the detective reason to fear for his career – and Alice’s life.

Episode 5 The DCI begins to suspect he has been double-crossed by one of his closest confidants, as an operation to buy the freedom of an art dealer’s wife from armed hostage-takers goes wrong. Luther turns to Zoe for support – but the person he believes has betrayed him has got there first.

Episode 6 Framed for murder and betrayed by one of his closest colleagues, the detective reluctantly accepts the aid of the calculating Alice Morgan, and turns to his love rival Mark North to help clear his name. Meanwhile, DSU Rose Teller struggles to come to terms with Luther’s apparent crimes, and is forced to take ruthless action to bring him to justice.

Thriller, starring Idris Elba,Warren Brown, Indira Varma, Steven Mackintosh, Saskia Reeves, Ruth Wilson and Dermot Crowley.

This show is a little bit too violent for me, but I’m curious to see how far the relationship between Luther and Alice goes.
